September 30th marks Orange Shirt Day in Observance of the atrocities committed at American Indian Boarding Schools beginning in the 19th century. Started by survivor Phyllis Webstad (Stswecem'c Xgat'tem) in 1973, the day is formally recognized in Canada, but remains unacknowledged by the United States government. In this workshop led by Brad Lopes, learn why Tribal Nations are carrying it forward in the United States, how such atrocities impacted Wampanoag people, and how to introduce the topic in educational spaces.
