Community Partners

The Aquinnah Cultural Center has the distinct pleasure of working with a wide variety of community partners. From Dance and performance work with Danza Organica, to assisting with Wampanoag Community Zooms with Wopanaak Way, we are excited to continue pursuing shared knowledge and visibility. The ACC continues to search for new and exciting partnerships!

Wôpanâak Way

A grass-roots movement started by Aquinnah Wampanaog sisters NaDaizja and Tysonnae Bolling, Wôpanâak  Way has worked to highlight Wampanoag culture, crafts, lands, and having weekly recurring "community zooms" where Elders, and tradition-holders, can share their knowledge to others.

Sassafras Earth Education

A Nature-based camp run by Tribal Elder, David Two-Arrows Vanderhoop; Sassafras works to connect children and families with the natural world that we have come to take for granted. SEE has also been working on getting the Wampanaogs more recognition and acknowledgement in the wider community.

MV Public Charter School

The Charter School was quick to find ways to incorporate the Cultural Center into their unique education model. Receiving the first official Wampanoag Land Acknowledgement, having multiple grades receive in-class cultural presentations, as well as grade visits to the museum in the late fall to view the Homestead and learn about the history housed there.

The Town of Aquinnah

The Aquinnah Cultural Center would not have its home at the Edwin D. Vanderhoop Homestead without the cooperation of the Town. We appreciate their continued assistance in highlighting Indigenous Artisans, the maintenance of the Homestead grounds, and support in most all of our events and fundraisers. Thank you!

Danza Organica Show

The Yard

The center for all things Dance on Martha's Vineyard, The Yard strives for promoting the telling of stories with our bodies. They were central to formulating the connection with Danza Organica, and provided a wonderful space for retreats, workshops, and performances that helped Wampanoag Voices tell Our Stories. Thank You!
